Here's my problem... I've been taking seniors and others with less than perfect visual abilites out birdwatching. I'll say "there's a blue bird on the tree straight ahead, about 20' up..." half will say "I can't see it" the other half will say "oh, yes..." when not even half can see it. Give them binoculars, it is a lost cause...
Here's my idea, use a camborder such as this: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/Standard-Definition-Camcorders/model.SDR-S50K_11002_7000000000000005702 which can zoom in really close. Then put it on a 19 or 22" TV running off a UPS battery backup sitting on a table. When I see something, they see it on the screen. A 25' or even 50' cable gives me the flexibility to move around. The problem is will I lose quality. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be broadcast quality, these people don't care. It gets them outside. It gives them an extremely easy way to see what I see with my younger and trained eyes.
Thanks.

I need some bIrdwatchers Advice?

I've recently have become very interested in birdwatching. I have some binoculars, and would like to start the making of a yardlist. I live in indiana, and was wondering if anyone knew some good guides and checklist books i could use. I'm limited on cash, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I live in a small town, so finding a book store is kinda hard. But I'll try. So petersons guide to Eastern Birds or something like that?

I need it explained in simple, easy-to-understand language.
Perhaps explain the differences as to roof prism, porro prism, wide angle, degree of angle, what the X's stand for, as I don't know how to look for a small waterproof pair which brings things way up close to use on a ship or for birdwatching.
Perhaps a certain brand and type can be suggested? I believe Bushnell are suppose to be very good but are they pricey because of the name? I see a lot of Nikons and wonder if they may be the best buy? (I am leary of Olympus because they have so many remanufactured products out there).
Any and all suggestions and info will be much appreciated. Thank you.
Also, please explain the field of view, angle of view and if some can be attached onto a tripod without an adapter.
And, should I look for fogfree lenses only?
Would ATB (allterrain) ones be best because they are more durable?
